Student appeal
The Union Cabinet Wednesday decided to introduce the School of Planning and Architecture Bill, 2014, in Parliament for bringing all three Schools of Planning and Architecture (SPAs) within the ambit of the proposed legislation. This would enable the Schools of Planning and Architecture to become centres of excellence like IITs, NITs and help fulfill the need for quality manpower in the field.

Australian Icon
Architect Frank Gehry has completed his first building in Australia - the Dr Chau Chak Wing building at Sydney´s University of Technology, set to open before schedule, in early 2015. The building has a partially wavy structure that has been likened to rumpled paper bags, much like the Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Guggenheim Bilbao designed by the architect previously. However, here, he has used 320,000 custom-designed bricks that had to be laid by hand to get the desired effect!

Skyscraper temple
Lord Krishna is now going to reside in a skyscraper! Construction of the Sri Krishna temple in Vrindavan which is 213 metres tall has begun and the foundation was laid by none other than President Pranab Mukherjee. The Rs 300 crore project will take 5 years to complete!

Concept restaurant
Gambling might be banned in Mumbai but not if it´s in the stock market! Giving bar lovers a chance to gamble for their drinks in the stock exchange style is Mumbai´s new bar called the Bar Stock Exchange at Sakinaka where the rates of drinks fluctuate and customers are encouraged to lay their bets based on demand and supply and pay their bill accordingly. The BSE-style LCD display panel displaying the rates of the drinks adds to the authenticity of the concept!

The real apple store!
An apple store with real apples! Now that´s something, isn´t it? This something was made to come true when one of the UK´s oldest food markets created The Real Apple Store to showcase 1,000 British apple varieties as part of its anniversary celebrations. In a playful reinterpretation of the store designs of tech giant Apple, the world´s oldest known apple along with 999 other varieties were displayed in a ¨shiny, white modern setting¨, on clear perspex cylinders, or on a giant wall display.
