Awards and accolades

The OOPEAA Office for Peripheral Architecture´s Puukuokka high-rise residential building in Jyväskylä has won the Finlandia Prize for architecture. Instituted by Finnish Association of Architects (SAFA), the Finlandia Prize for Architecture celebrates new building design in the country. Five nominees were nominated for the award. The winning entry showcased superiority of a wood-clad dwelling, in terms of acoustics and comfort, with large windows of the spacious staircase offering a view of a forest landscape. The firm´s chief architect Anssi Lassila accepted the prize on behalf of OOPEAA. The firm´s aim is to find a sustainable, high-quality solution for affordable housing.
