Post-earthquake Development

In the CBD of Christchurch, New Zealand, plans have been made by the Carter Group, on creating what would be their largest private development since the 2011 earthquake assuring that it will be replenishing to the precinct, and is expected to open in October 2016. A New Zealand firm Wilson & Hill Architects has designed ┬┤The Crossing┬┤ development and will cover the land between Cashel Mall, Colombo Street, Lichfield Street and High Street and will be split into three major forms and accommodate the old Crossing Building, a new building to the corner of High Street and Cashel Mall, and a car park to front Lichfield Street. The representations of the proposed development show a restored semblance on the 1935 Crossing Building. The new addition exterior is shaded by bronze sunhoods which will fall from the top of the ridgeline down and form the shopfront awnings.
