The inaugural edition of the India Design Forum held from 2nd to 10th March, 2012 was quite a hit! The event began with the Design Week, a week-long schedule of design exhibitions and curated events in venues across Delhi, which was open to public, followed by the Design Forum, a registration-only programme featuring talks by highly acclaimed design experts from across the globe. Speakers including international designers and architects like Karim Rashid, Joseph Grima, Birgit Lohmann, Justin McGuirk and Indians like Satyendra Pakhale, Kapil Gupta, Manit Rastogi, Aradhana Goel and many more addressed the large gathering of students and practicing designers and architects who had enrolled for the event.
Delhi was abuzz with activity this March with the IDF and Le Meridien’s announcement of adding artist duo Thukral and Tagra as new members of its LM100 creative community. Aiming to make their hotels a hub for creativity and encourage new talent, Thukral and Tagra were chosen by Jerome Sans, Le Meridien’s cultural curator, since their work explores various mediums and comments on globalisation of consumer culture as experienced in India.
