Bespoke with Luxury

We take a sneak peek at the home of Jimmy Mistry, to unveil the luxury within.

Luxury to me is anything that has fine craftsmanship, and an element of surprise in it," says Jimmy Mistry, Chairman and Managing Director of Della Tecnica. Mistry is known for designing exclusive interiors and architecture for high profile clients like Vijay Mallya, etc. For a man who breathes luxury day in and day out, his house has to be a model of high living, with the promised surprises around each corner. Indeed, the home does not disappoint.

Lavish Spaces

In a place like Mumbai, having a home that spreads over 20,000 sq ft and six floors is itself a luxury! Making the most of this huge canvas, Mistry has added features that would render the viewer awestruck with their opulence: personal lifts with sensor driven lights, a personal gym, salon and spa, a home theatre, and the best automation systems available. Guests are wined and dined at an 18-seater dining table and four bars, two of which are on the terrace. One of the terrace bars floats in the pool that is perched atop the building.

Animal Tales

The home oozes exclusivity. Going with the latest trend, the colour theme is predominantly black and white. The horse theme runs through the dining floor that is used to entertain guests. A custom-designed crystal light fitting that lights up to resemble a galloping horse is the most striking design element here. Large black chandeliers and a huge horse-like lamp in black complement the theme. A dumbwaiter supplies food from the kitchen to the pantry on this floor to avoid the inconvenience of carrying it through the corridors. The deck outside has arrangements for outdoor dining or for just relaxing in the evening.

The personal living room is themed on elephants. It is equipped with some funky light fittings, including the elephant tusk light fittings sourced from Italian Design Studio. The living room has multiple seating and dining options.

Only the Best

Each piece of cutlery, crockery and glassware in the house speaks of uncompromising luxury, with Swarovski's and Lladro's holding sway all the way. The lavish use of Satvario marble goes with the indulgent use of stone in the house. The sprawling 900 sq ft master bedroom with a 450 sq ft master bathroom, which is incidentally one of Mistry's favourite areas in the house, have a contemporary chic look. Separate walk-in wardrobes for summer and winter, a large work desk, comfortable seating with fantastic views, a projector television hidden in the bed and a personalised crest seen on every piece of furniture give this room an indelible Jimmy Mistry stamp.

Mistry has used brands like Kohler and Villroy & Boch for bathrooms, and Legrand, Crestron, Honeywell and Somfy Mobotix for other requirements. Needless to say, the best materials, right from Italian marbles to finest furnishings and upholstery have gone into each element.

Mistry's home bears witness to the fact that for lovers of luxury, even the sky is not a limit.
