Eclectic Ensemble

For the Hilton, Jaipur, ASA Design captures the vibrancy of the pink city.
The rose tinted city of Jaipur in Rajasthan is famed for its iconic architecture that dates back to its regal past. Framed against the backdrop of the Aravalli mountain range, the city is home to the sprawling City Palace and the airy Hawa Mahal. The Hilton Hotel in Jaipur, located in the heart of a city, pays homage the city´s historical legacy, at the same time bringing into its design contemporary style and convenience.

´As on all of our projects, our focus was to give a unique identity to this hotel and to inculcate a ´sense of place´ by using native design elements,´ say the architects at ASA Design.

Grand Entrance
Like in most hotels, the brief was to accommodate as many rooms as possible, along with the allied guest facilities, while still creating an interesting fatade. Since the front of the hotel was quite narrow, the grand entrance was created using a juxtaposition of different volumetric forms, viz curved and straight planes and an inverted pyramidal form.

A warm colour palette is used throughout the hotel. Beige stones, dark wood and accents of metallic sheen provide the necessary impact. Fitting 179 rooms along with the various other amenities over 1.2 acre is a feat that is an amazing testimonial to the efficient design conceived by ASA Design.

Space smart
Since the ground coverage was limited, the entire banqueting facility is located at an upper basement level, with a sunken landscape courtyard to take away the feel of being in a basement.

For the maximum utilisation of space, the long fatades have been treated with a series of vertical elements culminating in a form on top inspired by the rampart fort design that you see all over Jaipur. The third dimension of height was exaggerated to give a bigger volume and in turn a better sense of space. One common design element that binds all the interior spaces together is a modern interpretation of the traditional ´jaali´ or fretwork. This element is repeated in one form or the other throughout the hotel as a common thread integrating the essence of the city.

Radiant Rooms
As one would expect in a city replete with palaces, the rooms at the Hilton, Jaipur ooze luxury and comfort. Even the smallest room in this hotel has a small lounge area with a mini couch. All the rooms are spacious, and come attached with lavish bathrooms. Four of the best rooms in the hotel have a 1,000 sq ft private terrace.

The lighting theme is based on creating a contrast by putting bright spots of lights over selective important elements while creating dark pockets elsewhere and maintaining a minimum ambient lighting level. This draws attention to important elements and creates interest as opposed to having uniform lighting.

Scrumptious selection
The hotel has various dining options. Guests can enjoy a theatrical culinary experience with live cooking stations at Aurum  the stylish gold and copper themed all-day global cuisine restaurant. The amazing expanse of the beige Italian marble that covers the restaurants, is a perfect backdrop for the central backlit honey onyx column. The three incately detailed brass bells serve as chimneys, and have been delicately handcrafted by artisans from Jaipur, it took a dozen skilled craftsmen nine months to complete! Or unwind at Krystal, the chic lounge and bar, whose design theme revolves around custom designed wall panels made of stainless steel and glass. When this unique fixture is lit up, it glows like crystals.

Amenities galore
Hilton Jaipur´s 10,000 sq ft grand ballroom is an ideal venue for meetings and social gatherings, designed with warm colours and striking light fixtures. It leads to a versatile open-air patio. The hotel also offers various recreational opportunities such as an outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness centre and a 2,400 sq ft spa.

To experience the luxurious hospitality along with a mixture of culture, royalty and modern convenience, one need look no further than the Hilton, Jaipur.
