Walls and ceilings

Sandeep Mittal, Managing Director, Anutone believes that it is innovations that make the walls and ceilings industry so interesting!

What does innovation mean to you?
Innovation means to consciously move away from the majority mindset and pioneer a new product, trend or service that provides a better experience to the user.

What are the recent innovations in your industry?
Stretch ceilings that boast a single-span seamless finish of upto 1,500 sq ft installed overnight in a dry, dustless method; large-format single-piece wall panels upto 70 sq ft, curved and shaped cloud panels that can be suspended discretely from the roof; entire ceilings that act as a giant lighting reflector; drywall partitions with 4-hour fire ratings that can also be used in wet areas, etc. It is innovations that make the walls and ceilings industry so interesting.

What is the most innovative product by your company and what’s innovative about it?
Currently, we are excited about the imminent launch of wall panels that feature custom graphics on the surface. They will have the image or picture the customer wants in his office, home or elsewhere as a wall graphic, but with acoustics built-in. It could be their favorite scenery, holiday destination or family picture or just some abstract graphics they love and we convert it into a single acoustic panel or a series of acoustical panels. In this way, no acoustical panels intrude into the design; rather, the design now becomes acoustically treated too.

How does this innovation help customers?
Innovation in general helps to keep pace with customer aspirations or enables the fulfilling of new needs. It also helps provide improved products that better the earlier models either in terms of features, performance, price or a combination of all these attributes.

This particular innovative merger of art with acoustics helps to deliver double benefit to customers. Walls can be made to come alive not only aesthetically with a choice of panels with different surfaces, textures and finishes but can also serve the acoustical needs of closed spaces.

Is there a future innovation we can look forward to from your company?
Customers can look forward to an innovation in supplying factory-finished and supplied acoustical panels that feature integrated utilities like lighting, loudspeakers, life-safety devices, HVAC diffusers and air purifiers/fresheners to ensure a one-stop, single-source, seamless installation of walls and ceilings.
