The 25th Jubilee edition of Index Fairs was held in Mumbai from the 14th to 17th November, 2013. Spread over a sprawling area of 30,000 sq mt, the show inaugurated by Architect Hafeez Contractor encompassed over 2,000 brands in furniture, furnishings, kitchens, kitchen appliances, office, contract, and architectural materials, intermediaries and hardware. With brands from 15 countries exhibiting, Index hosted over 60 international brands with group participations from Spain, the UK, Indonesia and China. In addition, exhibitors from Italy, Germany, Turkey, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands and France showcased a stunning array of interiors products for the contract, design and hospitality sectors. There was also a special European Design Pavilion displaying exclusively European furniture, lighting, chairs and furnishings from the UK, the Netherlands, Italy and France. The representation also included participation of 7 delegates from the reputed Association of Wood and Furniture Industries. An Indian Design Pavillion was also created with seven prominent Indian Designers showcasing in a space of their own, such as: Miheer Fyzee, Aziz Kachwalla, Namrata Baruwa Shroff, Pooja Malhotra, Apeksha Samani and Natasha Bohra.
Architects Annkur Khosla and Jude D´Souza along with designers Vibhor Sogani, Kanika Bawa and Vyom Mehta also showcased their creativity through individual installations. Another highlight of the event was the second edition of KUDOS that honoured the inspirational work of six eminent architects in creating Key Green Corridors concepts. This included Abraham John Architects for The Bombay Greenway Project, Architect Hafeez Contractor for the The Mumbai Coastal Freeway, Karan Grover and Associates for Jadavgadh Fort, Prabhakar Bhagwat for The Green Rooms of Mumbai, Wadala, P K Das & Associates for Open Mumbai and Studio for Environment and Architecture for their Mumbai Greenlink Project.
Index 2013 also applauded and appreciated the creative efforts of the participants with the very first edition of the Index Flame Awards. The jury assessing these beautiful design spaces included Architects Kamal Malik, Samira Rathod, Tushar Desai, Reza Kabul, Ajay Nahar, Rajiv Mishra and Sanjay Puri.
At the Silver Jubilee edition, Index Fairs also launched two innovative interactions in the form of a debate over lunch with a focus on two key industry segments: Light and Kitchen.
Being considered the premier business event on the interiors and design industry INDEX successfully brought together important specifiers from several parts of the country and outstation buyer groups in significant numbers, reinforcing its position as a serious business platform for sourcing interiors and design in India!
