Much fanfare

´Crompton has sold 10 million fans and has a strong presence in metros, mini metros, Tier I towns and rural areas,´ says Uday Mahajani, Business Head - Fan Division, Crompton Greaves as he throws light on the laurels of his company.

Tell us about your brand and its market share and presence.
Crompton Greaves, one of the oldest and most trusted brands in the country, has been manufacturing fans since 1937. It enjoys clear leadership with 26 per cent market share and has extended its range to respond to changing needs by introducing varieties like high speed, 4 blade and underlight fans. The company has sold 10 million fans and has a strong presence in metros, mini metros, Tier I towns and rural areas.

What are the most unique products by your brand and what is the USP of your offerings?
We cater to all market segments and have a wide range of products in the residential, commercial and industrial categories. Special ranges like kids collections are appealing to customers.

Consumers trust our brand and products for the quality, technology and durability. Our after sales service network of 500 authorized centers promptly resolves any complaint received on the toll free number. The company has four manufacturing plants. 2,000 dealers and 30,000 retailers handle sales in 23 branches while 60 exclusive showrooms enable customers to ´touch and feel´ the products, experience product demos and seek expert advice.

How efficient are your products in saving energy and power? Do you have a role to play in Smart/Green Homes?
A pioneer in providing energy efficient products, Crompton offers a wide range in 3 star and 5 star categories. We won the National Energy Conservation Award in 2014 for the highest sales of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) labeled fans. We are working on their SEEP (Super Energy Efficiency Programme) Project and have successfully developed a product that enables 50 per cent power-saving compared to conventional fans. Our fans help in saving electricity upto 30 per cent i.e decreasing power consumption from 75W to 52W. This leads to saving about Rs 400 per fan in an annual bill.

How do you cater to varying customer preferences?
Generally consumers look for products which are distinct in aesthetics, appeal and finish but offer lasting quality performance, better safety and comfort. We have imbibed these parameters in the present range.

Any future plans?
Crompton will continue to provide suitable products while moving up the value chain. We want to provide unique products which will keep proud owners satisfied with constant evolution, good experiences and superior services.
