New York´s Governors Island now boasts of the recycled, upcycled and bicycled ´Organic Growth Pavilion´ made by Izaskun Chinchilla Architects. The Organic Growth Pavilion works on two simple ideas of adopting architectural and structural principles from the morphology of adaptive plants and organisms, and sourcing all components from second-hand and recycled materials. Umbrellas, stools and tripods comprise the structural framing. Umbrella tops and recycled bicycle wheels were used as shading devices. The Pavilion can be dismantled and reassembled. Funds for this Pavilion were raised by a Kickstarter Campaign, which helped the architects in sourcing materials and getting labour apart from raising funds.
