Borrowing design influences from the Nizams of Hyderbad, Tarun Tahiliani lends a royal look to the brand new restaurant at the Park Hyderbad – Aish.
Think fashion. And then think restaurant. A concoction of the two is what we have for you, courtesy fashion designer turned interior designer Tarun Tahiliani. Aish, a restaurant designed by Tahiliani at the Park Hyderabad, makes a statement with a delectable design that borrows inspiration for its exquisite décor from the legendary style of the Nizams of Hyderabad.
To begin with, we have a monochromatic theme wherein shades of crème and mother-of-pearl dominate the setting, offering an opulent yet restrained look. Dark ceilings offset the extensive use of white and shades of white.
The Nizams are known for their royal taste in sensory objects and their passion for owning the choicest of material things, from jewels to object d’art, to the legendary cuisine. And this is exactly the ambience that Tarun has lent to Aish. Crystal block lights hang from the dark ceiling while the floors are inlaid with mother-of-pearl in clusters of floral sprays created by special artisans commissioned from Jaipur. Detailing and intricacy are the key to the sumptuousness of this design. A dazzling Ossler centre piece casts a dull glow on the dinner guests while the private dining has been cordoned off by solid silver on teak trellis patterns, lending the entire space a luxurious feel.
‘Luxe’ brings to mind glamour and glitter, and if the design is by Tahiliani, Swarovski crystals must mark their presence in some form or the other. Here, he has used Swarovski lights on the ceiling; which itself has an aged, antique finish. The entrance to the restaurant comprises of a heavy door made of silver, designed by craftsmen based from Jodhpur. After all, royalty never settles for anything less than the best!
