Pune's latest contemporary business destination, HHI Hotel offers many surprises; one of them is the unique resto bar, the Eye Club, designed by Juneja Associates.
Mixing work with pleasure has never been so stylish. Nestled in the upscale, posh area of Viman Nagar, Pune is Hotel Hindustan International's (HHI) fifth hotel. This new boutique hotel provides a mélange of a rare kind - the cosiness of a home and convenience of an office. Designed as a contemporary business destination, it also offers exciting opportunities for leisure, dining and entertainment.
The hotel décor was guided by the design acumen of DK Jaiswal, MD, HHI Group of Hotels for the rooms, banquets and lobby - the execution of these designs was the handiwork of Delhi-based designers MS Interior Decorators and Wooden Art. The brief was simple - to create spaces that would exceed all patrons' expectations. In line with this brief, the designers have successfully given the rooms a chic, contemporary vibe. The remarkable resto bar in the hotel, The Eye Club, was designed by Deepa Sama, Interior Designer, Juneja Associates.
The 35, 000 sq ft hotel property comprises of a patio, 50 rooms, banquet halls, lounge and restaurants. The materials chosen for the property are lavish, beginning with the front fatade, which uses wood flooring especially imported from Japan. Other floors sport Italian marble, while the high traffic passageways are lined with sparkling crystal white tiles interspersed with embedded full size mirrors.
The hotel lobby smoothly blends into the passage that opens up to The Eye Club, a bar and lounge infused into a restaurant. The eye designed at the back of each bar stool is what gives the place its name. The Eye Club is a scintillating combination of a restaurant and a lounge offering the choicest selection of sprits and exotic global cuisine. Designer Sama has created this magnificent club, attached with an exclusive island bar, special dining room and lounging facility.
A grey-white and amber palette sets the tone for the entire space. "The island bar serves as a centre piece, immediately capturing the visitor's attention with its array of eyes on the bar stools," says Sama. The seating spaces and dining areas naturally flow outwards from the bar. The strong design statements, especially the breathtaking beehive screen, which also acts like a wall partition, has bees crafted out of antique brass - they add an instant 'interest' factor because of their very uniqueness.
Most of the furniture, mirrors and bar stools in this bar were custom made in the Juneja factory at Delhi. The chic Philippe Starck designed dining chairs were re-upholstered with fabric from Good Earth to match the overall look. The highlight of the resto bar is the light feature designed by Sama and the elegant glass globe chandeliers, originally sourced from Vietnam, which brighten up the otherwise muted décor of the club. "The Eye Club uses warm mood lighting throughout the day to provide a sense of comfort and relief to guests coming in from the bright sunlight. The idea is to accentuate the design elements while staying unobtrusive," says Sama.
The other highlight of the hotel - the banquet spaces Crystal I and II - were designed by Designer Nitya Mital. The space in the banquet runs freely with minimum pillars and obstructions to allow seamless movement and customised seating arrangements. Designer flat cylinder lights and spider gazing lighting is used to illuminate the large space stylishly.
More opulence comes in the form of UK-made Brinton carpet and tiles that grace the banquet floors. The walls are covered in marble interspersed with wood and mirror panelling. One wall that stands out to give the place a warm look is the one clad in a sensuous fabric in rich colour, with a twining motif.
Living in style
The interiors and facilities in the luxury rooms, Colony and Colony Premium, are a perfect blend of leisure and 5-star opulence. To make the stay more comfortable and productive, the suites and rooms are ergonomically designed and the windows are lined with double glass making them soundproof; the rooms also have fully automated power curtains and touch panels for all lights and services.
HHI Pune is a work of art blending experience with expertise and imagination with innovation, conveniently set in a location that is set to cater to India's fast growing business travel market.
