Web Exclusive | June 2014
The 14th Venice Biennale of Architecture to be held from 7th June to 23rd November 2014 is going to be curated by World renowned architect Rem Koolhaas. With 66 national participants exhibiting their work in the historic pavilions of Venice, the event also focuses on highlighting the academic marvels of architecture in this gorgeous city of Italy.
The Biennale is an occasion where eminent architects and designers can showcase new projects. These exhibits are based on the theme for the year chosen by Rem Koolhaas – Fundamentals. Fundamentals is a prolific theme that consists of three interlocking exhibitions – Absorbing Modernity (1914-2014), Elements of Architecture and Monditalia. Elements of Architecture will pay close attention to the fundamentals used by any architect, such as the floor, the wall, the ceiling, the roof or the door. Participating countries will engage in Absorbing Modernity (1914-2014 ), designing to erase the barriers between the nations and focusing on modernity instead. While the other two are quite technical, Monditalia engulfs the essence of modern Italy. It includes 41 installations crossing the Italian territory.
